BIOGRAPHY

Amit Poznansky (b. 1974) has been acknowledged as one of the prominent composers/arrangers in Israel today.

Coming from a classical background as a pianist, he is an experienced composer in a variety of styles and has written music for numerous stage productions, television series, short films, children musicals and documentaries as well as for different ensembles, orchestras and choirs.

 

Amit started his career both as a performer and arranger and participated in various productions in the Israeli repertory theater, mainly in the two major onesThe Cameri (Tel-Aviv's municipal theater) and Habima (Israel's national theater).

Among these productions were Shakespeare's plays "As You Like It" and "Hamlet", Brecht's "Mother Courage & her Children", "Fuenteovejuna" by Lope De Vega, "Murder" and "The Whore from Ohio" by the acclaimed Israeli playwright  Hanoch Levin.

 

His major film-work includes:
· "Barks" - a documentary by Ram Loevy for the Israeli Channel 8.
· "Uncle Pompa" - a fantasy film (Soundtrack released on MCI Records).
· "A Frame Story - 100 Years of Israeli Art" - a TV series for the Israeli Channel 2.
· "Get Well" - a TV series on the Israeli HOP! Channel.

 

In 2003 his debut solo album, "Life of the Dead", based on the poetry of Hanoch Levin, was released.  Amit composed the music, sang, played, arranged and produced the disc. The album is distributed by iMusic/NanaDisc, Israel.

In November 2006, a suite from his album was performed in concert by the San Francisco Bay Area Chamber Symphony.

 

Amit was responsible for the sampler programming for the Israeli production of Mel Brooks'  "The Producers", faithfully reviving the precise original score (!)
This production was honored as the Best musical of 2006 at Israel's Theater Academy Award Ceremony.
